Pickle Ridge Rustic Carpentry John Lore has a background in product and furniture design, carpentry, and construction. He has been building rustic furniture since 1992. We take great pride in hand-crafting fine rustic furniture that will add warmth and charm to any commercial or residential setting. While we specialise in furniture with a natural bark finish, we also have extensive experience in all styles of rustic carpentry, including bent willow, twig mosaic, naturally edged timber slabs (Live Edge), and Driftwood.

Our furniture is designed to be both natural and elegant , bringing the beauty and appeal of natural wood products into your home or business. Being a small company with expertise in all aspects of furniture making, we focus our personal attention on your particular needs. Our indoor furniture is mainly constructed from Red Alder - an ideal wood for such purposes. Branches of suitable thickness and shape are put into kilns on the same day as they are cut in order to ensure good bark adherence and tight joints. Thicker pieces are cut into boards. Western Red Cedar is used for our outdoor pieces because of its superior longevity when exposed to the elements. We also work with many other woods, including Hazelnut, Maple, Arbutus, Oak, Willow, Dogwood, Yew, Yellow Cedar, Douglas Fir, Pine, and Cherry.
